Discover theatre at Bristol Old Vic: On Saturday 28 May BOV is throwing open its doors and offering everyone a chance to explore our beautiful working theatre through workshops for all ages, talks and guided tours.

Saturday Workshops: BOV’s Outreach team is curating free, bookable family-friendly workshops including Movement for Young People – creating character with movement - for ages 8 - 14 years, Family Storytelling – learning to create stories - for ages 4 years and up and The Story Cellar  - exploring story making and puppetry - for ages 6-10 years old.

In Conversation: BOV Theatre Club offers  stimulating talks giving insight into theatre-making, all in the Studio. Mike Shepherd, Kneehigh Artistic Director is on at 11am; Realising the Vision is a talk with Bristol Old Vic's Technical Department at 12.30pm and An Actor's Life will feature a panel of emerging and established actors talking about their experience at 2pm. Free to all on a ‘first come’ basis.

Guided tours of the theatre: Tours are free and take about 45 minutes, leaving on the half hour between 12pm and 3:30pm from Coopers Gallery.  Tour spaces are limited, bookings available on the day via BOV’s Box Office.

Participate in Bristol's Creativity: Mon 30 May. On the day of the 250th birthday itself, there will be a street party to celebrate Bristol's creativity. Local artists and community groups from across the city will offer performances and workshops from Bristol Open Stage and will be joined by arts organisations from across Bristol.

King Street Party: King Street food festival from 12 - 9pm, featuring live music, performances and a delicious collection of food vendors to ensure the party continues throughout the day. A highlight will be Circomedia celebrating with a professional high-wire performance from The Bullzini Family as well as performances from emerging circus artists throughout the day. The climax of the street party will be a visual history of Bristol Old Vic, projected onto the front of our building from brilliant Bristol collective Limbic Cinema.

Monday Workshops: Local artists and creative groups, participants in Bristol Open Stage, offer free workshops that can be booked in advance via Box Office on 0117 987 7877.
